Direct equity investment in a $32m state of the art service station and convenience complex in inner Melbourne.

RESIDENTIAL APARTMENT DEVELOPMENT

Wingate funded a $94m Senior Debt Construction Facility for Art Group for the first of a five-stage urban apartment project known as the Soho Precinct in Dickson, ACT, comprising 370 luxury residential apartments.

HOTEL DEVELOPMENT

Wingate was engaged to provide a $118m Senior Debt Construction Facility for The Ace Hotel, a renowned U.S.-based hotel and lifestyle brand. The $197m development in Surry Hills, Sydney, built by Hickory Builders, encompasses an 18-storey 264 room hotel, conference facilities, and hospitality facilities on the ground floor and rooftop.

Aire, Wollongong

RESIDENTIAL APARTMENT TOWER

Wingate’s role was to fund a Senior Debt Construction Facility for a $56m residential apartment project comprising 92 residential units and eight commercial suites over 19 levels. AIRE is a premium convenience lifestyle offering built by Modco Constructions with uninterrupted views within walking distance from the beach.

Mark Harrison

Managing Director, Property

Mark Harrison has more than twenty-five years of experience in the Australian property and property finance sectors. Since assuming his role at Wingate in 2008, Mark has overseen the growth of the property division into one of Australia’s most active property debt and equity platforms.

Mark’s extensive experience in property includes direct property investment, development, and structured capital transactions, both as principal and lender.

At Wingate, Mark leads Wingate’s property business across debt and equity, including the origination of high-quality property investment opportunities. Mark is a member of the Wingate Group Holdings Board of Directors.

Nick Jacobson

Managing Director, Property

B.Comm and B.Law

Nick Jacobson is a highly regarded property and finance expert with more than 30 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Wingate, Nick was the Founder and Managing Director of CapStra, a leading independent Australian real estate financier and advisory firm.

Nick’s experience spans the full range of real estate capital and advisory solutions from financing to deal origination, structuring, development expertise, credit underwriting, and acquisition and divestment services. He has significant international experience with leading global investment banks across Australia, Europe and Asia, including as Chairman of Real Estate and Head of Investment Banking Services at Goldman Sachs Australia.

At Wingate, Nick is a joint Managing Director of the property business, responsible for driving growth and strategy, particularly in institutional funding solutions and capital partnerships.

Michael Nathan

Head of Property Analysis and Risk

Michael has more than 15 years of experience in real estate finance and property development.

Prior to joining Wingate, he held roles at Macquarie Group, including as Fund Manager of Macquarie Real Estate Equity Funds and Senior Manager within Macquarie Development Capital. Michael was integral in acquiring, structuring, and delivering many residential apartments, townhouses, and land subdivision projects across Australia. He also provided property advisory services within Macquarie Group for infrastructure and structured finance projects. Michael has also had various property and finance roles in two major financial institutions in Melbourne and London.

At Wingate, Michael is responsible for assessing risk at Wingate Property.

John Wilson

Executive Director, Property Development

John has 30 years of experience in the development and construction industry, with particular expertise in the delivery of large and complex mixed-use projects.

John adds significant depth to the property business risk management team, and to origination and delivery of equity and joint venture development projects with Wingate’s developer clients.

Daniel Farley

Executive Director, Property Syndication

Dan has over 20 years of commercial property experience with previous roles across capital transactions, asset management, development, finance, and property economics disciplines.

Before joining Wingate, he spent ten years at EG Funds as Fund Manager for the open-ended Australian Core Enhanced Fund, Fund Manager for the Australian Core Plus Fund No.1, and Divisional Director and Head of Capital Transactions. During this time, Dan was directly involved in the capital raising of AUD 1.3 billion of equity and the acquisition, management, and divestment of almost AUD 2 billion of office, retail, and industrial assets. Prior to joining EG, Dan spent three years as Chief Property Economist for National Australia Bank. Dan has also held the roles of Asset and Portfolio Manager for Macquarie Group’s listed and direct office vehicles.

At Wingate, Dan is responsible for driving the Direct Property strategy.

Rob Di Iorio

Executive Director, Property Origination

Rob has over 15 years’ experience in originating and structuring capital solutions for real estate owners and developers across all Australian markets. Prior to joining Wingate, Rob held senior positions at Commonwealth Bank, Pepper Group, HBOS/Lloyds and National Australia Bank.

Based in our Sydney office, Rob is responsible for the origination, evaluation, and ongoing management of real estate opportunities across senior debt, mezzanine debt and equity.

Jamie Kay

Executive Director, Property Origination

Jamie has had over two decades of experience in the property development and finance industries throughout Australia, Asia, and Europe.

He is well-known and trusted in the industry and widely regarded as a leading specialist in assessing market risk and identifying research-driven opportunities. He has been involved in acquiring, structuring, and delivering residential apartment, townhouse, and land subdivision projects across Australia.

Based in Melbourne, Jamie is responsible for the origination, evaluation, and management of real estate investment opportunities across the capital structure, including senior debt, mezzanine debt, or equity investments.

Prior to joining Wingate, Jamie was a Director with Oliver Hume and has also held senior executive roles with private, government and listed companies.

Samantha Zhou

Director, Property Origination

Samantha is highly experienced in driving business development, particularly supporting international clientele in property development.

Prior to joining Wingate, Sam worked at Pomeroy Pacific in Melbourne, the European Union Chamber of Commerce, and BHP Billiton in Shanghai. Sam is also a qualified interpreter.

Sam has a strong interest in international affairs and cultural exchanges. She has been heavily involved in the Australia-China Youth Dialogue.

Lee Dransfield

Director, Property Origination

Lee has over 19 years’ experience in real estate assets, providing strategic advice and analysis on direct and indirect investments.

Lee’s experience includes developing and executing investment and disposal strategies, raising and managing capital, underwriting, asset optimisation and valuation.

Lee holds a Bachelor of Arts in Experimental Psychology from Magdalen College, University of Oxford, UK.

Ben McKie

Director, Property Origination

Ben has over ten years of experience in the property development industry and has successfully delivered projects across various sectors, including residential, hospitality, retail and commercial developments in Australia.

Based in our Melbourne office, Ben is responsible for the origination, evaluation, and management of real estate investment opportunities across the capital structure, senior debt, mezzanine debt, or equity investments.

Richard Vidaic

Director, Property Origination

Richard has over 20 years’ experience in property development, investment finance and corporate finance. With expertise in deal origination and structured project lending, Richard strongly values developing integral partnerships with key stakeholders.

Based in our Melbourne office, Richard is responsible for the origination, evaluation, and management of property opportunities across the capital structure.

Prior to joining Wingate, Richard held roles with the NAB, Bank of Melbourne and in private finance.

 

Karin Mowlem

Director, Property Analysis and Risk

Karin started her career in finance at Telstra Corporate Treasury before moving to NAB where she held roles in Debt Advisory and Institutional Property. Karin joined Wingate in 2016 and currently leads the Melbourne Risk & Analysis team.

Karin has a Commerce degree from Melbourne University and is a CFA Charterholder.

Thomas Johns

Director, Property Analysis and Risk

Tom brings 10 years’ experience in banking and property finance to our Melbourne Risk & Analysis team.

Prior to joining Wingate, Tom held various roles across Australia, managing large private developers and investors, as well as listed and institutional clients.

 

Andrew Perkins

Director, Research

Andrew has over 25-years of experience in providing leading-edge research and intelligence capabilities that empower people with data and insight to drive market share growth and return on investment.

He has built a strong reputation for delivering real-time market intelligence to key industry stakeholders including developers, fund managers, financial institutions, REIT analysts, and local and state government agencies.

Andrew has sat on a number of industry and social enterprise boards and committees, including the Urban Development Institute, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology Property, and Kids under Cover.

Andrew oversees the implementation of a research and intelligence platform at Wingate; dovetailing into business development, risk support and brand development.
